Peter’s family run a 300-cow dairy enterprise in Carmarthenshire based on an autumn calving, grass and high forage system supplying First Milk on a manufacturing (cheese) contract. The herd is now all home-bred pedigree British Friesian and Dairy Shorthorns with some additional cross-bred animals. He is also co-owner and director, along with his brother, of an award-winning 5-star touring caravan park. On leaving university, Peter joined the Welsh Agricultural College as a lecturer in Animal Production and subsequently moved to Coleg Sir Gar where he became Assistant Principal, Learner & Business Development. While at Coleg Sir Gar he established the Dairy Development Centre at its Gelli Aur Campus. At the college Peter led the its award-winning employer engagement strategies, including the delivery of a range of courses, knowledge transfer programmes and other services. Until recently he was an independent member of the Welsh Agricultural Advisory Panel, and he continues to sit on the Farming Connect Strategic Board and chairs the Farming Connect Training sub-group; he is the Lantra Wales Chair and a Lantra National Trustee.


Peter is a Nuffield Farming Scholar and his contribution to Education and Technology Transfer to the Welsh Dairy Sector was recognised with the award of a Fellowship of the Royal Agricultural Societies (FRAGS).
