Gilt selection: Wiltshire

Past Event - booking closed

Monday, 16 December 2019

6:30pm - 9:00pm

The Pembroke Arms, Minster Street, Wilton, Salisbury, Wiltshire

SP2 0BH

Come along to this meeting and hear from Fiona Roberts of PIC, who'll be talking about gilt selection and gilt management.

It typically costs around £250 to rear each gilt, so putting the groundwork in to make sure they get past their first or second parity and reach their full lifetime potential is vital to get a return on that investment.

A few simple steps are often all that are needed to achieve great gains but, first, we need to understand why young sows are failing in the first place.

Come along from 6.30pm, food will be served at 7pm

Our pig clubs meet regularly in the evenings during autumn/winter, providing commercial pig farmers with the opportunity to meet each other, hear from guest speakers and discuss topical issues. The meetings are relaxed and informal and, importantly, include an evening meal.
