Due to coronavirus restrictions, two sessions will run (10.30am – 1pm and 2pm – 4.30pm) limited to 30 people each time. Please book onto your preferred session:

Join us for this on-farm event with our Beef & Lamb Strategic Farmer Chris Elkington and independent consultant, Dr Liz Genever to discuss the progress Chris has made in improving his soil health. The condition of soil on livestock farms directly influences the yield and quality of grass and forage crops, as well as animal performance and profitability.

Chris has also worked hard over the last two years to improve how he manages his ewe lambs. This event will provide a great opportunity to hear how this year’s group have performed and the changes Chris has made to ensure the practice is worthwhile.

The event will cover topics including:

  • How to measure the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil

  • Practical steps to improve soil health

  • How to effectively establish herbal leys

  • Management of herbal leys when grazed by sheep

Refreshments will not be provided on this occasion.

You can register for a free place by booking online, emailing KE.events@ahdb.org.uk or calling 01904 771218. Attendees must be over 16 years of age.
