Two new appointments to the AHDB Beef & Lamb board

Thursday, 11 April 2019

Meat processor Trevor Bellis and Cumbrian farmer Colin Bateman are the newest board members for AHDB Beef & Lamb.

The pair joined the board on 1 April and will continue in their posts for the next three years.

Trevor from Janan Meat brings more than 40 years’ experience within the retail and supply sector – having held positions ranging from store manager to category buying manager.

He has also held senior positions within the Co-operative Group, Dunbia and Vion before joining Janan as Sales Manager.

With a passion for the farming industry, Trevor is keen to play his part in delivering the best produce the UK has to offer.

Colin, an upland farmer in Cumbria, is currently lambing 900 ewes and calving 70 suckler cows on a rotational grazing system.

He is looking forward to joining the board and representing the voice of farmers across the country. He is particularly interested in building farm resilience through the use of technology and modern grazing techniques.

Will Jackson, AHDB Beef & Lamb Strategy Director, said: “I would like to welcome Trevor and Colin to the AHDB Beef & Lamb board and look forward to their insight and guidance on a range of future challenges that the beef and lamb industry will face.

“I would also like to thank Rizvan Khalid and Ros Turner for their valued input throughout the last few years, as they will be leaving their roles as of March.”

All of AHDB’s sector boards are predominantly made up of farmers, growers & processors, providing an important level of direct accountability for AHDB. Sector boards typically have between 10 and 14 members, one or two of which will be non-levy payer independent members bringing additional expertise in areas such as marketing or supply chain.
